Composed of vitamins, minerals and choline, it ensures adequate consumption of folates, which are essential throughout pregnancy, but particularly crucial during the first trimester.
In fact, insufficient maternal folate levels are a risk factor in the development of neural tube defects in the baby. Supplemental folic acid increases maternal folate levels, thus reducing this risk.
It is recommended to consume 400 μg of folic acid per day for at least one month before and up to three months after conception to achieve this beneficial effect.
